Access Thousands Of Channels For Free With Windows Internet TV

Windows Internet TV is just one of many ways to access television channels on your personal computer, but it is one which a lot of people will choose because they are familiar with the Microsoft name, and are also used to a similar interface with the Windows Media Player. The Windows system does make it easy for you to browse through the channels and pick out exactly what you want to see. The most important feature of the software is that it is free, and there are a great many competing programs on the market which are not.

In fact, it has become one of the most regrettable features of the huge growth of the Internet that a whole industry has sprung up selling unnecessary software to unsuspecting newcomers who do not understand how easy it is to access Internet television. The software developers claim that the software is able to access thousands of satellite TV channels which you would not otherwise have access to. These claims are totally false, and any software making such claims is to be avoided.

The truth is that this software is nothing more than a program which accesses the free online directories available to anyone, and then pulls in the lists of URL addresses to return to the user. In the best case, it could save you a little bit of trouble in searching the database for some new channels, but that is not what it claims to be able to do. It cannot give you access to encrypted channels, and even if it could it would not be legal for you to view the broadcasts.

Windows Internet TV has many of the features of these expensive software programs, but the description is given honestly, the software is free, and the program does exactly what is claimed. You can access thousands of free to air TV channels and watch them right on your PC. The best part of this program is the menu feature which lets you find channels you may otherwise have been unaware of, and it lets you do this quickly and easily. You will certainly never be stuck for something to watch ever again.

One thing which is definitely worth considering once you have your Windows Internet TV system set up is the addition of a TV-out card so that you can watch your new channels on your TV set or projector system. Depending on the hardware you have, you can greatly enhance the standard of the pictures you are watching. At the very least, make sure that the monitor you have is of reasonable quality, otherwise you could be straining your eyes unnecessarily. If you are going to make Internet television an important part of your life, it is worth investing in some good hardware to complement your Windows Internet TV.
